What is a virtual tour and why would I want one?

To keep it simple, a virtual tour is a large interactive panoramic image offering a 360 degree horizontal field of view and up to a 180 vertical field of view as well. These tours have many useful applications in environments such as real estate, commercial, and tourism to name just a few. In today’s online world, a virtual tour can be an invaluable marketing tool. What better way to showcase your venue than through a virtual tour? Your target audience can visit your tour location any time of day from their personal computer, laptop, or other internet tablet devices. For example, in the Real Estate industry, imagine the benefits of having 24-hour access to a virtual tour of an open house. This could attract more potential customers and thus generate more revenue than would normally be expected.

Depending on your application, I can produce two types of virtual tours: spherical and cylindrical. There are a couple of samples at the bottom of this page describing the differences.

In order to accurately and efficiently capture your tour, I use a combination of digital SLR cameras and precise motorized equipment to produce stunning high resolution tours.

I offer customized packages to suit your specific needs, as well as discounts for purchases of multiple tours – the more you buy, the more you save. Packages can also include still photos for real estate listings.

Once your tour has been shot and processed, it can be produced into various popular web-ready formats such as Flash, SWF, or HTML5. Don’t worry if you’re unfamiliar with these formats, your website administrator will understand these. You will receive a disc with all the necessary code to place your tour onto your website.

1) Spherical Tour - Which covers a full 360° horizontal field of view plus a 180° vertical field of view which allows the viewer to look at the ceiling and floor. These tours require more photos and time to produce and therefore cost a little more than cylindrical tours.

2) Cylindrical Tour - Also covers a full 360° horizontal view, the only difference is that the viewer cannot look at the ceiling or floor as the vertical field of view is much less than 180­°. These tours require less photos and time to produce and cost signifcantly less than spherical tours.
